Splurging to Unwind

My life seems to be surrounded by school, studying and working on my thesis. I love the work, I do, but it can all become so…overwhelming. Luckily, my parents are not the useless gift-giving type and gave me a certificate to the spa. How did they know much I needed to relax? Was it my recent face breakout, perhaps? The dark circles permanently etched under my eyes? Whatever it was or is, I love my parents and how well they know me.

I had never officially been to the spa before. I have had pedicures and a manicure a few times, but never an all-out spa experience and I just have to say, I recommend it to everyone. If you do not have the funds (which I definitely understand) then just put a little away at a time because it is definitely worth the splurge.

I went to Ummelina Day Spa here in Seattle and they offer several different relaxing treatments. I had a facial, massage, a sea salt scrub not to mention a beautiful manicure and pedicure. Being at the spa had me think about pampering myself more often. Not necessarily at the cost of professionals, but added sea salts to my bath once in a while or stocking up on some inexpensive mud masks.

I started my “beauty rituals” after my day trip to Ummelina and found small ways to incorporate these small indulgences into my everyday life and it has helped me relax so much.
