Your Guide to Great Skin
Throughout the course of the day, skin comes into contact with a not-so-friendly environment. From the elements, to unsavory pollution, the skin is the first defense the body has to keep bad things out. For that reason, taking the time to remove the sludge of the world is essential. Every morning and evening should begin with a gentle cleansing routine, tailored to your specific skin type. For example, oily skin requires a cleanser formulated for oily skin, sensitive for sensitive skin, moisturizing for dry skin.
To clean, simply wet both hands and face, squirt, squeeze or pump the cleanser of your choice into clean hands, rub the cleanser into your face in gentle, circular strokes, and proceed to rinse the world away. To remove heavier makeup, non oil-based remover is that extra step before cleansing that makes all the difference.
The next step in skincare is in the exfoliation, which is designed to slough off dead skin cells, promote healthy skin circulation and blood flow, and reveal brighter, tighter, more youthful looking skin. There are many exfoliators on the market that range from physical to granular, and the one that you choose should largely depend on the amount of exfoliation you require. For the exfoliating beginner, a gentle, fine grained scrub would be the way to go. Technique is exactly that of the cleansing technique, with special attention paid to the actually rubbing. With exfoliation, gentle rules. Rub too hard, and you can damage your skin in ways that you hadn’t bargained for.
The last step in the skincare trifecta, moisturizing is for putting back into the skin all the essentials nutrients that you lost or washed out. As with a cleanser, the type of moisturizer you pick should depend on the needs of your skin. It is best applied before bedtime, using gentle massaging strokes, allowing about thirty minutes for all of the nutrients to sink in.
With these three steps and techniques, your skin will never look better.
