Dare to Go Makeup Free

Enjoy a Makeup Free Weekend

makeupfree
On the weekends, sometimes I like to go makeup free. Don’t be scared, this can actually be good for your skin! Just having one day to let your skin breathe can be a welcome change. Here in San Diego, the weather is gorgeous and sunny so oversized shades can compensate for little or no coverage on the face.

Even if you aren’t wearing any makeup you can still take the time to give your skin some love. I always wear moisturizer with SPF because my skin tends to dry out easily. When this happens it is dull and feels tight, so even when I do apply makeup I know it still needs some replenishment. I also wear lip balm to make sure my lips are hydrated and not flaky because that’s never a good look.

Instead of going through your makeup routine, you can go through a more thorough skincare routine that you may not have time to do on a weekday basis. A hydrating facial mask plus toner and a moisturizer can really make your face look and feel perked up. It's also a good time to shape your eyebrows and give attention to any blemishes or blackheads by applying acne gel and/or pore strips.

To put it simply, weekends can be a good time to take care of your skin instead of covering it up. I love makeup as much as the next gal, but there always needs to be a good, healthy base to begin. Do you ever go makeup free?

It is not so much putting it on, it's taking it off at the end of the day that is the pits. Sometimes I will just wear eyeliner and lipgloss if I am going to have to interact with people. You don't have to wear full face makeup everyday. This comment has been removed.

Yes, I sometimes go makeup free too...it feels good and it's nice not having to remove makeup at night! I need to check out the primer that @GoodFaith recommended! This comment has been removed.

Totally agree! I tell all of my clients to give makeup a rest for 1-2 days per week. Let your skin breathe and soak in a little vitamin D. This comment has been removed.

I do this all the time because it is nature's way.......But it sure makes me appreciate the wonders of makeup when I do want that "less flawed" look! This comment has been removed.

I go makeup-free all the time. I recently discovered a simple primer with vitamins in it, by Reviva Labs. I will put a little of this on my face, to create a barrier from the outside elements. It's really great & a must try. This comment has been removed.
