Tips to Avoid Dark Under-Eye Circles

beat_dark_undereye_circles
Dark circles, bruising, raccoon eyes. No matter how you phrase it, under-eye darkness can be the bane of any girl’s existence. Fortunately, with every problem comes a solution. Here are some tips for lessening the appearance of dark circles.

First, it’s important to understand the cause of under-eye circles. Fatigue, while one of the most common causes, is not the only one. Also on the list of offenders are allergies, stress, hyperpigmentation, and even hereditary factors. Obviously, some causes are more treatable than others.

The best way to prevent the appearance of dark under-eye circles is to get more rest. This is usually easier said than done; however, getting enough rest is essential to maintaining a healthy appearance for your skin.

After a long day, cool and brighten tired eyes by placing cold cucumber slices over closed lids. Applying a rich, moisturizing eye cream before bed can do wonders at plumping up the moisture content in the delicate under-eye area.

When all else fails, a cosmetic concealer can ultimately hide what you don’t want the world to see. Opt for a cream formulation (which covers well), in a shade close to your own skin tone. Set with finely milled powder, to ensure that the coverage lasts all day.

Raccoon eyes need not be a daily occurrence. Use these tips to blast under-eye circles.

@designbyday Spoons in the fridge scare me. Didn't you see A Christmas Story when Ralphie's friend's tongue got stuck to the flag pole? Same thing... two spoons stuck on your eye baggage. This comment has been removed.

I've heard that putting spoons in the fridge, then pressing them over your bags is a good quick fix too. I'd imagine it's a lot less messy than the ice cube trick, but less relaxing than the cucumbers. This comment has been removed.

Will just anything that's cool as a cucumber do the trick, or are there magical properties to it? I think my dog would eat the cucumber slices if I tried to lay down with any food on my face. This comment has been removed.

Dark eyes are the bane of my existence! I blame my kids!! ;) I've tried cucumbers and it seems to work on some of the darkness. I think a vacation would be the best remedy though. LOL! This comment has been removed.
