Fashion and trends may rise and fall, but there is something that will always remain a constant: the pursuit of gorgeous, flawless skin. Unfortunately, flawless skin is not ubiquitous—and hence, its pursuit ever the more fervent by women and men alike. The good news is that for those of us who are not duly blessed naturally radiant skin, a couple of makeup tricks will go a long way. Here are some tips for flawless skin for different budget ranges.

Sponges for an airbrushed look
If you’re going for bang-for-your-buck, I’d say that sponges are a godsend for that extra mile they go. The trick is to apply foundations using a wet sponge. A dry sponge will simply just soak up all the product and make your foundation go to waste. A wet sponge (not drenched, mind you—but lightly saturated with water) is perfect for recreating that perfectly airbrushed and dewy skin—all of this at next to no cost for you!

No. 187: “The Skunk Brush” by MAC
Otherwise known as the stippling brush, the 187 ($42) is a cult classic of all makeup lovers and beauty fanatics. It’s really a fantastic brush—made with goat hair for that soft, velvety texture, as well as synthetic fibers for resilience and brush longevity. What’s great about the brush is that you only need a bit of foundation, and the “stippling” motion of the brush application ensures that none of the product is lost or wasted. In other words, you only need a bit of foundation to really achieve the photoshopped quality on your skin!

Makeup airbrush machine for…well, airbrushed skin
If you’re a seasoned makeup lover with a bit of cash in your hands, a makeup machine may be a great alternative for recreating virtually perfect skin (which may be handy for formal events!). There are a large number of airbrush machines out in the market, so be sure to do your research beforehand!
