During the summer, we often hear “less is more” in terms of how much makeup we should wear. While this is true because heavy makeup looks “cakey” during the hot summer months, what if you have areas that require major concealing? What's a girl to do then? Well, you need to do TWO THINGS! One, find makeup products that offer buildable coverage and a lightweight finish, and two, use skincare products to treat and eliminate problem once and for all. Don't know where to start? Don't worry because here's my step-by-step guide to achieve a FLAWLESS FACE ALL SUMMER LONG!

*Treat Your Skin Concerns

Let’s consider this for a moment. WHY are you wearing makeup? What are you trying to conceal, or HOW can we improve it? If it’s acne, then you need to make sure to wash your face at night and exfoliate on a regular basis. If it’s dry, flaky skin, then you need to use moisturizer both day and night as well as mildly exfoliate once a week. On the other hand, it might be redness. In this case, you should treat with a calming serum or mask to soothe the skin. Whatever the situation may be, address the issue with a skincare treatment rather than relying solely on makeup products.

*Summer Makeup

Now, that you’ve taken the steps to solve your skincare issues, you can utilize your makeup to enhance your complexion. I highly recommend BareMinerals products as they can give you the coverage you need without clogging your pores. Using natural products are crucial to a healthy lifestyle. In fact, proper diet and exercise also fall into this category.

In the morning, I like to cleanse my skin with my facial cleanser. Next, I apply a blemish-clearing serum by Juice Beauty followed by a spot treatment by MyChelle. Both products have helped tremendously with my random breakouts and sensitive skin.

Moving on to my favorite multitasking product, I take a synthetic foundation brush, and I brush on my BareMinerals Sheer Tint Moisturizer for normal to dry skin. It has just a hint of color to even out my skin tone, and it provides my daily moisture for the day. To hide my dark circles, redness around my nose and any breakouts that I may have, I use a concealer brush to apply my BareMinerals Correcting Concealer in Tan 2. Then, I set with translucent powder. Both my moisturizer and translucent powder contain SPF 20 or higher, so I relish in the fact that my face is protected from the sun. However, I opt for a higher SPF and hat when I am directly in the sun for longer periods of time.

Finally, add color to the cheeks, lips and eyes where needed.
