Caring for your brushes and ensuring that they are cleaned regularly is extremely important for their longevity. It’s something that we easily overlook or forget to do. However, not only do brushes collect bacteria after each use (which can make your skin more likely to break out after reuse), lack of maintenance makes it tougher to clean in the long run. Here are some good tips on how you can keep your brushes in tip-top shape.

Step 1: Clean your brushes AT LEAST every week.
Cleaning is preferable after each use or after every other use, but since I know it’s difficult to achieve, I say clean at least every week. You will be doing your skin good service by removing all the buildup and bacteria that may have collected on the brushes.
Step 2: When cleaning, be sure to avoid getting the area between the handle and the metal clasp wet.
This is very important because if water seeps into the metal clasp, it tends to loosen the binding between the handlebar and the metal clasp of the makeup brush. Getting it wet will shorten the life of your makeup brush—so try and keep it dry when cleaning.
Step 3: If you don’t have a brush cleaner, substitute with a baby shampoo.
Apply a drop onto your palm and work it into your brush using warm water. Keep swiping on your palm until you see the water run clear of makeup. Hope these tips are helpful!!
