Why Wear Hair Products With Uv Protection

Hair Products With UV Protection
Come summer, you should have hair protection on the brain (don’t forget to protect your hairline and part!). Color-treated hair is especially sensitive to the effects of the sun and other summer bummers like cholorine. If you want to preserve the hand-painted highlights or single process color you just splurged on at the salon, don’t leave home without sun protection, a rule you should also follow for the skin on your face and body. Ultraviolet rays can penetrate the cuticle of the hair, bleaching (or “oxidizing”) the color—this explains why brunettes turn reddish and blondes go brassy.

Since hair products can’t advertise an SPF (those labels are reserved for skin products per the FDA), look for formulas that call out UV filters or ingredients like benzophenone and ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate (try saying that five times fast!). To gear up for a day at the beach, a styling cream with UV protection will cling to the hair longer and offer more intense protection than a spray.  If you plan to spend the day shot gun of a convertible, wrap your hair in a scarf or tuck it under a hat to keep whipping winds at bay.

Good article for point this out. I feel like many a times, we focus solely on skincare, but it's also good to protect our hair from sun damage. This comment has been removed.
