Captain Blankenship Bath Luxuries
Captain Blankenship soaps, salts and scents
Rare is the luxury that makes you want to rise and shine before the rest of the world when you're an incurable morning person. Well, thanks to one of our favorite French boutiques, Berkeley-based Mignonne, we've ever-so-gracefully stumbled upon a line of soaps that finally inspire us to set our alarms set at the crack of dawn just so we have enough time to sneak in a hot, sudsy, heavenly scented bath before diving face first into work. Enter Captain Blankenship for eyes, nose, skin and spirit.
The line's chunky, imperfectly square soaps leave the skin enviably silky and conjure the same feel-good feelings as eating a dish full of chocolate mousse in the middle of the night. We're hooked on Orla soap (pictured here), made from rose geranium, blood orange and bergamot, and Rusalka, fashioned from spruce, ocean pine, palmarosa, cedarwood, eucalyptus and vetiver. A gentle goat's milk soap named Dalila and a purifying clay soap by the name of Morning Bells complete the Captain Blankenship soap collection for now...each one is made with vegetable (or goat's milk) glycerine, almond oil, essential oils and plant derived colorants and exfoliants. Snap them up and take them along on your next seaside vacation when you want to escape the ordinary.
Captain Blankenship also turns out body balms, lip balms and fine bath salts from California sea salt. As for the fragrances, which linger throughout the day and also make it easier to sleep at night, all of them oil- or alcohol-based, packaged in cobalt blue bottles and made from organic jojoba-immersed essential oils.
