I’ve recently noticed a new crop of makeup products at the department store, which got me really excited (I’m always a sucker for new “it” makeup products). Estee Lauder, Clinique, Smashbox, and many other famous brands alike have introduced a new hybrid tinted-moisturizer/skincare product: the BB Cream.

Believe it or not—BB Cream has been around for quite some time, and really caught on as a big hype in Asia years back. Touted as one of the most revolutionary skincare products in the makeup industry recently, the BB Cream is more than just a simple coverage makeup-formula product. BB Cream—or commonly known as “Blemish Balm” Cream—is designed to provide light coverage to the skin as well as imparting a number of various skincare benefits.

So what’s the big deal on this product that sets it apart from the other ones we see at the department store? Well, what I find most impressive about it is that it’s a four-in-one product: it moisturizes, it primes, it conceals, and it provides protection against the sun with SPF. It’s truly a one-stop quick fix for getting all the necessary skincare essentials down pat in a single application. It’s perfect for giving your skin that light coverage before heading out of the house.

In the past, I’ve tried several different brands of BB cream—amongst them the SKIN79 Super+ Beblesh Balm BB Cream (the one that comes in a pink/fuchsia pump bottle) (really liked my results with the product!). There are a HUGE number of brands out there in the market, and it’s quite fun trying out the different BB Creams (which are widely available online). I’m very intrigued by the BB Creams now introduced by Western cosmetics companies…although I do wonder how they hold up against the original ones sold in Asia (texture, finish, skincare benefits, etc.).

I’ve heard some great things about the Estee Lauder BB Cream, which has sold out at many of its locations. It may just be the next BB Cream I plan to pick up!

I've tried Ettusais, a brand from Japan. It's a great product and I'd totally repurchase ;) This comment has been removed.

@TenelleXoXo I heard that it's kind of an equivalent to a tinted moisturizer here, but some of the BB creams have more coverage than others. It can work to cover up some redness/acne, but you can pretty much get a flawless complexion if you double a concealer to use with it as well ;) This comment has been removed.
