Styling Tricks to Look Slimmer

There are simple tricks to keep us looking slimmer. It can be in the clothes we wear or the way we do our makeup, but there’s always some “magic” behind the art of looking our best.

- Contouring. I’m still perfecting this makeup trick and there are several good videos on YouTube that give helpful tutorials to show how bronzer and blending can help slim the face. Kandee Johnson’s is the best that I’ve found so far, but we have some professional makeup artists among us right here on Taaz that we can learn from, including @vbeauty.

- Haircut that complements your face shape. One in the 7th grade, I got the worst haircut...from my mother. She accidentally cut my hair too short, chin length, and it ended up making my already round face look even rounder; not the most flattering look. With my face shape, and the length and thickness of my hair to take into account, layers often work best on me and keep my face looking slimmer.

- Solid colors. Black has always had a slimming effect, so wearing a dark color from the waist down and then accenting with a brighter top, this helps keep a slim line.

- Nude shoes. Neutral-colored shoes help to elongate the legs. If you’re wearing shoes with ankle straps, be careful the color you choose doesn’t “cut” your leg off short.

- Know your true size. From bras to shirts to jeans, make sure that what you wear is a good fit. Sometimes weighing a few pounds more makes us believe that we need to wear a size much larger than we actually should. If your weight fluctuates, understand that your clothes will fit and more importantly, look, differently.
