How to Apply Shatter Nail Polish : Do It Yourself Professional Manicure
Honestly, shatter takes practice but it's simple to get. I’ll give you some helpful tips. For one, I always start with clean nails. Duh that means taking off all old nail polish residue! Then, I like to buff my nails. It makes them look SUPER healthy and evens out the texture. Oh and you can get a nail buffer at your local drugstore. They look like square rectangles, and they’re super cheap :) Once my nails are buffed, I like to shape them. Some people like oval, and others prefer square. I really like "squoval". Haha that just means I do a combination of both. Ok now here’s a step that most people skip, and that’s applying a base coat. It’s basically a primer for the nails. I use primer for other things like my eye makeup. So it’s the same principle of keeping your nail polish on longer, and it also smooths out the nail. Stay with me!! I promise we’re almost done!! I bet most of you are thinking that this is way too difficult, but don’t knock it ‘til you try it. It really takes 20 min. I SWEAR. The first time ever though it took me double the time. It gets easier every time, and it saves me so much money if I can do it myself. Ok so now put on 2 coats of your nail polish. I like Slushied from the OPI Glee collection. Make sure that you wait for the first one to dry before you put the second coat on. Last, put on ONE COAT of Shatter. Do not go over it, and make sure it’s a thin layer. In a few mins, it will shatter and you can do a top coat to protect all your hard work!
