It’s the middle of February, folks. For the world, that may not mean much, but to those of us immersed in the land of beauty and fashion it means one thing: Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week. It’s time to discuss what is hot for the coming seasons, starting with nails. Here are a few trends that we can look forward to in the coming year.
The New Nude Nails
If there is one look that we have seen pop up everywhere, from runways to real life, it’s the nude nail. Also called the “mannequin hands” look, the nude-colored nail goes well with any outfit or makeup application. Nude nails add polish and sophistication, without being overbearing or harsh. A nude nail also has a warming effect, which can be wonderful when the temperatures drop.
Fashion week saw many a nude nail, but this time in unexpected colors, such as pale greys and army greens. All in all, the focus is on shades that are wearable and complementary with a variety of different looks.
Jewel Tones
Every fall, a plethora of decadent jewel tones find their way onto the nails of runway models, and this fashion week was certainly no exception. From ruby to emerald, sapphire to amethyst, brilliantly rich, dark nails played up the contrast between some of the more textured, patterned looks in fall and winter clothing.
Metallic Nails
The fashion runways saw no small shortage of leather and other high-shine materials. Perfectly complementing these daring looks were metallic fingernails. Done in shades of gold and silver, the metallic nail has the perfect look and texture to match a sleeker, polished, and even more futuristic overall appearance.

@beautydiylover The wonderful thing about beauty is the dichotomy. On one end of the spectrum you have new neutrals, on the other, the vamp colors! This comment has been removed.
I love nude nails so it's great to know that's what's on trend. Fall always has the darker colors - glad they're keeping things neutral. This comment has been removed.
