When it comes to nail trends, matte is the new polish, as seen backstage at the spring-summer fashion shows. For fall, the matte nails trend is still going strong in unusual shades of egg shell, gunmetal, purple and navy blue. Pair matte nails with glossy lips for a smoking hot effect.
To score a shine-free finish, pick out a polish without sheen (try the O.P.I collection) or simply follow this trick: Matte your manicure by applying colored polish (skip the usual glossy topcoat), let it dry, run your nails under cold running water and run a chamois cloth or nail buffer over the top of each nail. The result? Perfectly matte nails. Snazz up the look with a nail art pen, which will allow you to draw checkmarks, hearts, stripes and polka dots direcly onto your polish. Water-based nail pens distribute polish that wipes away if you make a mistake and a top coat will seal your hard work in place (make sure your top coat is matte). That's a great idea! I really wanted to try out a matte nail polish but never knew I could easily get the same effect using the nail polishes I already have. What colors look good matte? This comment has been removed.
