These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Monica's Best Beauty Buys

In the spirit of the fun “10 Favorite Things” trend started by @RoryGautsche, here is my list of personal beauty favorites. I use these things almost every day and feel like I can't live without them. Does anyone else use any of these products? If so, please share your experiences!

1) Olay Complete Moisturizing Cream: This is my go-to moisturizer, for morning and night. I find that this “Complete” version offers more moisture than other Olays and goes on smoothly under my makeup. Also, it has SPF 15 protection, so it's a good way to ward off sun damage. (About $7)

2) Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (Colorless): This luxurious oil-free primer makes your face smooth as a baby's bottom and has serious lasting power. It's pricey, but worth every penny. ($36)

3) L'Oreal True Match Liquid Makeup: I use this foundation in N4, which is the closest match to my actual skin tone I've ever come across in a foundation. Glides on smooth, not cakey at all. (About $10)

4) Benefit “Boi-Ing” Concealer: This is some serious industrial strength cover-up, ladies. It comes in 3 shades – light, medium, dark – and is excellent for hiding those dark circles. I apply it with a concealer brush and blend with my fingertip. ($19)

5) L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Blackest Black: I'm extremely picky when it comes to mascara but when I found this L'Oreal Telescopic a few years ago, I instantly fell in love. The color is rich without clumping and the wand is ultra-skinny, which makes it easier to control application. The tiny wand helps to get ALL of your lashes, even the tiny baby ones. The end result: Full, gorgeous lashes that last all day. TRUE LOVE. ($8)

6) Smith's Rosebud Salve: This is another one of my true obsessions. I use this on my lips, hands and even cheeks to moisturize dry areas. On lips, it adds a pretty light pink tint and on cheeks it does the same, also acting as a light primer for blush. It smells wonderful and the tin is cute and vintage – this stuff has been around since 1892! Well, if it isn't broken, don't fix it, right? ($6)

7) MAC Plushglass in “Nice Buzz”: This is my go-to nude lip gloss. It's sheer, shimmery and literally makes your lips buzz. It actually plumps your pucker to make it look super kissable, and contains Vitamin E for extra protection. ($18.50)

8) MAC “Shroom” Eyeshadow: This is the most perfect eyeshadow base/highlighting color I've ever used. I apply it every day for a light champagne-colored glow. ($15)

9) MAC “All That Glitters” Eyeshadow: Also one of my favorite daily eyeshadows. This pinkish color adds just the right amount of shimmer to the eye for a casual daytime look. Another bonus: This color is really versatile and can be blended with deeper tones for a sultrier look. ($15)

10) MAC “Pinch Me” Blush: This pretty peach blush adds a perfect touch of “flush” to the face. I apply a tiny bit every day with a blush brush to give my face a little color. ($19.50)
