Master the Art of Eye Shadow Application
When it comes to navigating through the myriad of eye shadow options out there in the beauty world, a basic knowledge of texture and application methods is key.

Perhaps one of the easiest textures to apply, cream eye shadow works wonderfully as both a base for complex eye looks, and as a sheer wash of color on the lids. One thing to keep in mind when going cream is to look for the words "budgeproof," "waterproof," or "water-resistant," to ensure that the formula won’t crease under heat. Another thing to consider is your skin type. For example, oily gals might want to steer clear of creams, as oily lids and creamy, emollient bases don’t mix too well. Creams can be applied with just a clean fingertip, or a synthetic eye brush, if you prefer not to get your hands dirty.

Another popular eye shadow formulation is the loose powder, usually labeled as mineral or loose eye shadow. Loose formulas as a whole tend to be sheerer and sometimes more sparkly than their pressed counterparts, and do well in a variety of effortless, easily blended looks. A word of advice with the loose powders is that they can be messy, so caution is king. Loose shades work best when applied with a densely packed, natural hair eye brush.

The most standard of eye shadow forms, the pressed eye powder can come in a variety of finishes, and endless shade options. Pressed shades are both versatile, and convenient, and oftentimes come in pre-packaged palette form. Depending on the desired finish, pressed shadows can be applied with both natural and synthetic eye shadow brushes.

Armed with a basic knowledge of eye shadow, application is a snap.

My favorite is pressed! I like colored primers too though and using them just like eyeshadows. This comment has been removed.
