How to Fake A Tan On Fair Skin

After seeing the effects of the sun on the skin (hello leather Birkin bag!), we've all the more reason to stay out of "harm's ray" this summer. That being said, we've rounded up our best tips for faking a tan on fair skin. Try on your natural looking summer tan in our virtual makeover studio.

Step 1:

1) If you have fair skin, use a light bronzer to build color in layers. Diving into the deep end at the cosmetics counter is never a good idea. Don't use the darkest possible bronzer, even if you plan to use a light hand for application.

2) So you say bronzers tend to turn you orange? Instead of browsing bona fide bronzers, try searching for a chestnut-hued blusher, which casts a more natual glow on porcelain skin. Brownish-pink or brownish-plum blushers will keep you from looking like a carrot if it's lightly sun-kissed color you desire.

3) Blend, blend, blend whether your preferred bronzing formula is liquid or powder, and check your artistry in natural daylight to make sure there are no telltale lines of demarcation.

Nice article. Here's a makeup trick for the pale gals like me: Use a foundation two shades darker than your own as a bronzer. It works extremely well for contouring too! :) This comment has been removed.
