Tips for Holiday Party Makeup Looks

holiday_party_makeup
'Tis the season for holiday parties and get-togethers! While we all want to look festive and fabulous, finding the perfect outfit for every event can be overwhelming. One thing you won’t have to worry about is your face, with this quick guide for holiday party makeup looks.

Sparkle is everywhere during the holidays. A little glitter never hurt anyone, and it is a great way to add a festive touch to your look. For grown-up glitter, try dusting a bit of ultrafine, iridescent glitter onto your eyelids, over your shadow application. Another way to add some sparkle is to mix a bit of glitter with a dollop of your favorite gloss before applying to the lips. Remember that the amount of glitter applied is entirely in your hands; don’t be afraid to experiment. Start with a small amount of the sparkly stuff and add a little at a time until you achieve the desired effect.

For holiday parties, nothing beats a classic makeup look. Try a cat eye with matte, red lips, or a sultry, smoky eye with a glossy, pale lip. These are the tried-and-true looks that will always be in style, and they can be worn to any seasonal event.

Tempting as it may be, try to avoid strongly contrasting colors when applying your face. Green and red look wonderful on a wreath, but on your face? Not so much. If it just isn’t the holidays without Christmas-colored makeup, opt for a soft moss or sea foam color on the eyes, and a sheer red gloss on the lips. For a gorgeous Chanukah-inspired look, use shades of icy silver, blue, and iridescent gold on the eyelids, with a soft-pink pout.

Last but not least, have fun! When it comes to showing your holiday cheer, the sky is the limit. Use these tips to get a festive face this holiday season.

@RoryGautsche That is one of my favorite tricks. Be sure to concentrate the shimmer in the center of your lips, to create the illusion of fullness! This comment has been removed.

@buxombeachbabe Go for it! For a fun spin on the look, go with a bold pop of color on the eyes. You won't regret it! :) This comment has been removed.

I usually like lighter makeup but its fun to go bolder during the holidays for parties and stuff. I'm gonna try the cat eye look!! This comment has been removed.

Love this article.....thanks! I just bought a MAC lipstick called "Air Glaze", (in a white tube) and I've used it over all my red lipsticks to tone them down a bit. Also looks good alone and adds some shimmer/irridesence! This comment has been removed.
