How to Wear Foundation for a Flawless Finish

Foundation Application 101
Foundation application is a matter of preference, of course. Liquid foundation can be applied with your fingers (for heavier coverage), a damp sponge (for sheer coverage) or a foundation brush (for buildable medium coverage). Blending allows you to achieve your most natural-looking finish so nobody will know you're wearing makeup. Take special precautions to blend around the jawline and down the neck to prevent telltale lines of demarcation. And if your foundation isn't a perfect match, don't forget to blend a bit on your earlobes...wearing foundation is about creating an illusion and that illusion is broken when the face is darker than the ears, neck and chest. Like sheer coverage? Mix foundation with moisturizer in the palm of your hand before appling it to your face. Instead of wearing concealer, use the thickened foundation that gathers around the inside of the bottle cap...it's more forgiving on fine lines than a cakey concealer and covers just as well. Wear foundation on eyelids to make eyeshadow stay put, eliminate redness or darkness around the eyes and give them a clean, finished look. Set with powder to prevent creasing around the eyelid. You never really need to wear foundation all over, simply spot conceal the areas that need it and blend, blend, blend.

Foundation brushes always make my foundation look streaky :( I found that using my fingers help the foundation adhere to my skin better. Plus, it looks more natural. This comment has been removed.

Have you tried a stippling brush? (It's a black brush bristle with white ends...some people call it a 'skunk' brush) It works really well for creating that airbrushed effect. Just got mine from MAC and it's a keeper! This comment has been removed.
