How to Add Drama to Your Eyelashes
For a wide-eyed effect, a fanned-out lash begins with a curling of the lashes. Once clean lashes have been curled to perfection, opt for a formula that provides maximum definition, lengthening, and lash separation. In general, the brush on the perfect wide-eyed mascara will be curved, with small to medium bristles that reach every single hair. Concentrate your brush strokes on the outer portion of the lash for an extra elongated appearance.
Always a fall staple, the smoky eye is best when paired with a rich, full lash. Opt for formulas that are on the thicker side, but fairly wet, so as to be completely buildable. Apply the first coat, and allow time for it to dry before applying the second and third coats. Look for a product that has volumizing in the description, and you should be set. Also noteworthy: the brushes on these formulations tend to be fatter and larger, to maximize the impact of each brush stroke.
This past summer saw a huge resurgence of color, and with it, the rise of the colored mascara. Perfect for creating added length and definition, the colored mascara also provides everything from subtle hints to full blasts of eye-catching color. For best results, go with a shade that compliments your own eye color: purple for green eyes or blue for brown eyes.
When in doubt, false it out! Find the pair of false lashes best suited for the look that you are going for. For fun and flirty, opt for a pair of lashes that are lengthy and fanned out. For a cat eye effect, a half-length fanned lash will not only be super easy to apply, but will also wear comfortably throughout the evening.
When it comes to eyelashes, the rule is the bolder the better.
