Fall Makeup Trend
Now that September is officially here, it is time to stop and consider the trends that will carry us well into the season. From rich matte lipsticks to deep, dark, smoky eyes, fall is the season to embrace darker shades.

One of the most versatile makeup applications around, the smoky eye always sees a resurgence during the cooler months. Playing against the thicker fabrics and generally darker color schemes of the season, the smoky eye brings drama and sex appeal, with minimal effort.

Deep shades of berry, red, and brown will adorn the lips. Just as summer is the time to break out light, effervescent, pastel lip glosses, fall is the time to whip out rich hues in opaque, pigmented finishes. Designed to last, the matte lip can be especially gorgeous when set against otherwise minimal makeup on the face.

Fall’s color palette is all about earth tones, especially for the eyes. Gone are spring’s pastels and summer’s bright colors, leaving us with a palette of metallic gold and bronze, deep forest greens, and rich, earthy browns.

Trends dictate that with falling temperatures comes a more dramatic makeup application. This fall, don’t be afraid to join the dark side with the hottest trends in beauty!

Does anyone have any green or gold eye shadow recommendations? My skin is very golden, so I want the gold to pop and not wash me out. This comment has been removed.

The lip color is fierce! @glossqueen -- Maybelline makes pretty nice dark lipsticks too :) This comment has been removed.

I typically use heavier kohl around my eyes. I'm glad that's what's on trend. This comment has been removed.

Do you think a smoky eye is good even for fairer skin? I like the idea of using bronze or gold. This comment has been removed.

i love this look as well. i feel though sometimes i can't pull it off because i'm too fair-skinned. i find a darker hue, but more brown overtones looks better on me. This comment has been removed.

Yes! I love the deep berry/red/brown lip! Nars pure mattes are my favorite, but pricey. Does anyone have a drugstore brand recommendation? This comment has been removed.
