How to Do Your Makeup Like a Vamp

Vamp Makeup
Bright statement makeup is having its moment, but there’s still something alluring about the vamp. The trick to creating this look is to focus on a soft smoky eye and a deep lip hue that suits your skin tone.

"This look is inspired by the modern vampire , but her makeup is more wearable (read: less spooky). The effect is equal parts lady and the vamp."

Aspiring vamps don’t wear blush. Give your skin a sexy sheen with golden shimmer highlighter or matte bronzer, depending on your desired effect.

To create a soft smoky eye that channels your inner vamp, opt for shadows that rival beach sand and cocoa powder. Sweep the color allover your eyelid and create definition by outlining your lashline with a black plum shadow (applied on the tip of an angled eye shadow brush).

Dark skin pulls off deep, vibrant cherry lilp colors with ease. Get a subtler effect with nothing but gloss in the same shade (we love Clinque’s Black Honey). If you have medium skin, try a brick brown (reddish brown) lipstick to warm up your face. Olive skin tones can pull off almost any shade, but you ought to steer clear of classic red and go for a mysterious chocolate hue to stand out from the crowd.

For a smoldering effect day or night, complement vamp makeup with a soft, grayish-purple nail polish. --Stephanie Simons
