AnnaSophia Robb gets to play a young Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, the prequel to Sex and the City. She is Carrie as a teenager in the 1980s and it’s interesting to compare her look then to how we remember it from SATC.

AnnaSophia has the wild, dark blonde curls that Sarah Jessica Parker was known for when portraying Carrie. Hers are a bit bigger in that perm-style that was popular in that decade, but the hairstyle also makes her an original. To achieve a similar look, a semi-permanent would create body and enough curl so that it would be easier to achieve the smaller ringlets of Carrie. Keeping hair free of frizz is also important so a styling mousse and a finishing spray keep locks healthy looking and full of body.

Carrie’s outfits was almost like another cast member during SATC and not much has changed with The Carrie Diaries. Young Carrie is just as interested in mixing and matching styles, wearing tulle-full skirts and adding in something unexpected to her outfit. She is unique in her fashion choices and is not afraid of color or print. And the shoes, of course, are still as fabulous.

AnnaSophia keeps her makeup to a minimum playing young Carrie which is smart since the star and the character is so young. Keeping skin youthful and vibrant can be achieved with by using a moisturizer including a SPF and only hints of makeup that will enhance features. Carrie was typically a minimalist when it came to makeup.

It seems like AnnaSophia is doing her character justice as far as getting the look right for the character. How do you think she does as the younger version of Carrie Bradshaw?
