Image credits: makeup4all.com Makeup serves many purposes: it’s there to conceal, enhance and illuminate. At the same time, it’s also there to express who we are as a person and showcase our individual expression. For that reason, I find it fun to create artsy-makeup looks for special occasions—whether it be for Halloween, costume parties, or themed events. This fiery red makeup is a bold look and not for the faint-of-heart, so wear it and own it like it’s your own!

Step 1: Begin with a luminous medium-coverage foundation.
I really like Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua for its incredibly light consistency, buildable coverage and breathability. If you have oily skin, opt for a primer to help keep the makeup from sliding off a couple of hours in. Finish by locking the foundation in place with a translucent powder over the t-zone area.
Step 2: Keep the brows light.
What makes this look so unique is the barely-there eyebrows and the striking red eyeshadow color. Skip defining the brows altogether and use a brow gel to lock the hair down in place.
Step 3: Use an eyeshadow primer to really bring out the vivid red eyeshadow color.
A primer ensures that your eyeshadow remains vivid for hours, and that it shows up bold and noticeable. For the eyeshadow, use a bright red and apply it all over the lids, all the way up to just a centimeter or two short of the eyebrows. Extend the color out using a sponge to work the color out in a gradient toward the temple area. Next, follow up with a shimmery orange in the mid-section of the lids to create that gorgeous sheen on the peepers!
Step 4: Define the cheeks with a soft, barely-there blusher.
Since your eyes are the attention of this look, keep the cheeks light and natural. Apply a light layer of soft pink blush to the cheekbones. To soften the color, I like to use a clean kabuki brush and buff off the excess blush to lighten the amount of color on the cheeks.
Step 5: Keep the lips nude or au naturel.
Soft, natural lips complete this look—so opt for either just a quick swipe of chapstick to hydrate the lips, or a nude lip color to cancel out the natural lip color. An easy way to get the latter nude lips look is to dab a tiny bit of foundation on hydrated lips. Set in place with a bit of translucent powder and you’re set to go!
