According to the beliefs of early Europeans, witches often traveled in covens, which makes this costume a great choice for women who like to travel in groups (finally, an excuse to cackle amongst each other and cast evil spells on creepy ex-boyfriends!). Not all witches are evil-doers with a taste for eye-of-newt, nor do they necessarily tout a broomstick as their preferred method of transportation.
