How to Style Your Hair Like a Pixie

The Pixie Hair Cut
Short hair reigns supreme this season and leading the pack is the pixie, which gets modernized with just a hint of eye-skimming fringe and razored ends. Look to celebrities like Ginnifer Goodwin, Rihanna , Elisha Cuthbert, Josie Bisset and a vintage Mia Farrow for inspiration. Part of this hairstyle’s allure is that it looks like a cinch to pull off, cutting your styling time in half every morning. Craving a little nip and tuck? Try on brave pixie hair in our virtual makeover studio.

Ask for a precision cut, but make sure your pixie hairstyle doesn’t take itself too seriously or look too forced. It’s best to refrain from combing or brushing after blow drying, go easy on the styling products (you never wanna look greasy) and use your fingers to create a piece-y, windswept effect. Cutting the ends with a razor will put an end to your perfectionist tendencies. This is the key to youthfulness when styling. Try a zig zag part and a bit of volume at the top with sleek, skimming layers at the cheeks. --Stephanie Simons

I used to do the piece-y style with my pixie style. Wax works really well to hold the hair in place...just make sure you're not putting too much into your hair b/c it'll look like you have a lot of junk in your hair. Wax with a matte finish is the best imo This comment has been removed.

I wish I had the face shape to pull of the pixie look! It's a pretty daring and bold look, you definitely have to have a certain face shape to look good in it. This comment has been removed.
