Protect Your Hair Color From the Sun

Summer Hair Color Tips
Wanna try a new hair color for summer? Starting with strong hair is the first rule for coloring your hair any time of year.

Hair color fades faster in the summer because of the elements so ask for equal parts highlights and lowlights to give your hair dimension. Blondes can try caramel lowlights and brunettes should experiment with shades of chestnut. Following treatment, protect your hair color with products containing sunscreen or use facial sunscreen in a pinch.

As a general rule of thumb, it helps to explain the desired thickness of highlights in terms of pasta (spaghetti, angel hair, lasagna). "Natural" or "chunky" are relative terms and will cause confusion. You can always bring in a photo to communicate your desired look.

If you find that you need to touch up your roots before summer has ended, buy a hair color in your natural shade and apply it on the roots for a few seconds to take the dullness out of regrowth.
