Looking for something easy but elegant to do with your hair this summer? The low braided bun is just that. Also, it’s perfect for all occasions because it can be dressed up for formal events such as a wedding or date or worn casually at a concert or lounging by the pool. In fact, it might just be your go-to style all summer long! Here’s how to do it!
Step 1: Hair Prep
It’s best to style with 1-day-old hair because braids tend to slip with freshly washed hair. To give your braids extra grip, sprinkle a little texturizing powder or dry shampoo at your roots. Now, comb and part your hair.
Step 2: Braid By Section
Next, you’re going to section your hair into 3 areas - 2 smaller areas by your ears and hairline and 1 larger area with the rest of your hair in the back. Leave the 2 smaller areas loose while you put the larger area into a ponytail at the nape of your neck. Make sure to comb and smooth out your hair at the crown (top of your head) to your ponytail because you will later on tease for some extra volume.
Now, braid the hair from your ponytail, and once you get to the ends wrap the entire braid into a bun. Secure with pins as you create your bun.
Next, braid the 2 smaller sections. You can french braid if you prefer, or you can just do a regular braid if you want to be quick. Once you are done with both sides, criss-cross your braids and wrap around your bun. Again, secure with pins.
Step 3: Tease and Freeze
The next step is optional if you’d like extra volume. Go ahead and gently pull up the hair at the crown of your head. This should loosen the top area to lend your hairstyle some volume and lift. Finally, mist on some firming hairspray to keep everything in place.
