I really am loving doing my hair in braids right now because they're easy to do and can quickly change a look. They're also great to keep the hair off your face or give you soft waves once you take them out. There are so many ways to do braids, but here are some I've been trying.

Step 1: Thick Plait
I have thick hair and so during the summer months, I like it off my neck more and pulled off my face. While I do like the ponytail and bun options, a braid is a fun look. The easiest is to do a thick, low braid down the back, but lately I've been pulling it to the side. Because my hair is layered, a few strands slip out, but that's fine; it's not meant to look overly done. If you have too many straggly hairs, just pin them back with some bobby pins.
Step 2: Mini Braids
Buy the small elastic bands at the drugstore and do several tiny braids all over your head. It doesn't have to be perfectly spaced out, nor does it have to be a ton of them. Sometimes I'll put in five or six tiny braids throughout my hair just to give my hair a look of more texture. You can then leave your hair loose or pull it up in a ponytail.
Step 3: Ribbons and Braids
Ribbons are something I used in high school when I braided my hair. It's fun to add some color to your hair, some hair accessories if you will. Just take a ribbon and hold at the top where your braid begins. Then, just incorporate the ribbon in as you're braiding. To keep the end from sticking out at the top, you may want to make a small loop around the section you're braiding first.
