If you’ve got a special event coming up, or you just want to get out of a hairstyle rut, braids are always a great option. Mastering a few different braiding techniques will give you endless hair possibilities. This braided style looks intricate, but pulling it off is a cinch! My model Desiree can attest to the ease and elegance of this stunning look, and I can tell you how to get it for yourself.

Suitability: this hairstyle will work best on medium-to-long hair, no matter the texture.

To achieve the look, you will need: pomade, hairspray, brush, comb, bobby pins, and small elastics that are clear or the same color as your hair

Step 1: Brush hair. Start out by making three vertical sections, using a comb to create zigzag parts from the top of the head to the nape of the neck.

Step 2: Apply pomade throughout to help control flyaway hairs.

Step 3: Braid each section into a loose French braid, continuing until you run out of hair. Secure with elastic.

Step 4: Pull outer edges of braids slightly, to loosen braids and create texture.

Step 5: Twist ends/ tails of braids until you get the desired look, and bobby pin in place (if hair is thicker, you will
want to cross bobby pins over each other to secure better).

Step 6: Smooth down any remaining flyaway strands and spray hair with hairspray.
