Fashion Week 2011 Hair Trends
When it comes to hair, mane attractions come in a number of sizes, shapes, lengths, and colors. Next spring and summer, structure is the key—as seen in the sleek hair and perfectly composed up-dos so prevalent on the runways. Even better, we are seeing bursts of color all around!

Half-up hairdos were all the rage on runways far and wide. Whether tight and structured, or loose and slightly undone, the half-do provides the perfect balance between put-together and playful. To get the look, artists gathered portions of hair from the side of the head, bringing them together low on the crown of the models’ heads.

On this season’s runways, the wet look seems to have come back in a major way. Mousse, pomade, serum, and gels enabled hair stylists to give models’ hair a moist, slicked-back appearance, creating an aura of sexy sophistication.

In direct contrast to the otherwise conservative and structured hair looks we are seeing, some of the models’ manes were treated to bright and playful splashes of color. Pinks, purples, oranges, and blues brought color and fun to the runway.

On and off the runway, buns and chignons were the hot ticket items. Editors and models alike could be seen with everything from classic ballerina buns to elegant, voluminous chignons. Perfectly tying into the wet looks and structured styles favored this season, the bun is both easy and elegant, no matter what the occasion.

Take a hint from the runway and embrace a sleek new look for the spring and summer seasons.

I like that buns are back! I'm going to play around with the structured bun look at the office. I think it's professional but still trendy. This comment has been removed.
