Your guide to the hottest bangs trends

Complement a long hairstyle with angled bangs, which are cut at a slight downward sloping angle to blend effortlessly with the rest of your hair. Angled bangs add style to an otherwise boring, pin-straight hairstyle. Style them smooth by blow drying them with a large round brush and pulling them taut to one side as you go.

Choppy, textured bangs get plenty of movement from razored layers. For an edgy look, let razored pieces fall forward to frame your face and use your fingers to sculpt them into a purposely messy style that turns outward at the ends. These bangs look great with a short shag or cropped pixie hairstyle.

Full fringe that grazes your eyes looks slightly bohemian and should be paired with a long hairstyle (one that hits below the shoulders). When they're softly turned under, long bangs give long hair a fab finish and they dramatize eyes and cheekbones.

Classic blunt bangs update any hairstyle and turn it into something thoroughly modern. For a sultry Cleopatra effect, opt for a deep color like chocolate brown or jet black with one unexpected strand of platinum placed strategically to frame your face. --Stephanie Simons

Is there a special way you have to cut your bangs if you're doing it at home? Mine's growing out and I don't really want to drive and spend money on a cut when it's only my bangs that need trimming. I have regular scissors, will that do? This comment has been removed.

Barber shears are preferable, but regular scissors are fine if 1) they're not dull 2) you're only using it to cut your bangs and not your entire head. Take the section of your hair and run it between two finger, down to right above where you want to cut. You should cut little by little, holding up your scissors vertically (so that it's parallel to the hair) and snip little bit at a time. Hope this is helpful...good luck!!! :) This comment has been removed.
