A Visit to the Sexy Hair Institute of Courage

All the Details on My Trip to the Sexy Hair Institute of Courage

Recently, I had the honor of being selected to attend the Sexy Hair Institute of Courage. During the time I spent there, I learned so many useful and helpful techniques that will not only allow me to be a better stylist but will also help my clientele recreate their new looks with ease in the privacy of their own home.

The company’s philosophy of being a solution-based line means that there is no scenario that can’t be managed or improved using Sexy Hair products and techniques. Within the Sexy Hair brand there are several different lines, including Big Sexy Hair, Healthy Sexy Hair, Short Sexy Hair, Straight Sexy Hair, Smooth Sexy Hair, and Curly Sexy Hair. All of these product lines have options for both thick or coarse hair, as well as fine-to-normal textures, ensuring that no one is left behind.

I am now an educator for Sexy Hair and will have the opportunity to travel to different professional venues to teach and spread my knowledge. I will also have the chance to work as a platform artist, getting involved in several different awards shows (such as the Grammys and the Oscars) and participating in events like Los Angeles and New York fashion weeks.

I am beyond excited for these upcoming events, not only to get a more behind-the-scenes perspective, but also to be able to come back and share everything I see and hear with all of you fabulous TAAZ dolls. Make sure to stay tuned for my future inside scoop!

I will leave you all with a helpful tip I learned at the Institute:

I’m sure you have all experienced a bobby pin sliding right out of where it was originally positioned, right? I know I sure have! The best way to prevent that from happening is simply to insert the pin with the shorter, beveled end touching (and parallel to) the scalp. For the past twelve years I have always inserted the pin with the straight, longer end against the scalp—and wondered why sometimes it would hold and other times it wouldn’t. Turns out, inserting with the beveled edge toward the scalp helps to add friction. This method will hold even the thickest head of hair in place with minimal pin usage. Make sure that, when securing your pins, you use the tip to direct the pin away from where you want it to go first, before hooking it to the desired direction. This will create an even tighter hold because the over-directed hair works as extra support.

Happy styling! I hope you enjoy your cleaner, less pin-tastic styles. Thank you all for allowing me to share. I hope you are as excited as I am for what’s to come!
