3 Fab Hats to Try This Winter

Are you a gal that likes to wear hats? Some people think they can’t pull them off, but I feel like everyone can, they just have to pick the right one for them. In winter, a hat is good to keep the head warm and to cover up any dry or frizzy hair days. In summer, hats can protect hair from color damage and it can protect skin from burning.

Try on several different hats before deciding on the ones that work for you. Take a pal with you so you can decide what you like and then get a second honest opinion. Some of my favorite hats include:

Newsboy cap: My grandpa used to wear a newsboy cap and once I was in a New York bar and had the same hat as an older gentleman. But just because this hat can technically be classified as menswear, it can be worn for a cool, downtown look. Pair with a graphic tee and boyfriend jeans and a slim fitting jacket.

Fedora: I have a straw fedora that is perfect for summer, but the light material isn’t appropriate for winter. A felt fedora in a deep color like burgundy or plum provides a chic accessory for the times when you feel more bundled up. Jacket wise I would pair this hat with a trench style coat or asymmetrical, longer cape.

Cloche: This hat might remind you of an earlier era. Popular in the 1920s, this hat has proven its timeless style. It’s classy and feminine and also looks best in darker, solid colors. Depending on the color of your main winter coat, you can always make sure you have a match with your cloche.

Winter might give us dry and staticky hair, but it also gives us the opportunity to wear some fabulous, heavier hats. Do you like wearing hats? Which is your favorite?
