Different Ways to Accessorize With a Scarf

If there is one accessory that is always chic, no matter the season, it is the scarf. Simple, functional, and classic, the scarf is a must-have accessory that comes in a variety of styles, to be worn in a variety of ways.

Around the Neck

The typical—and, of course, the most classic—way to wear a scarf is as a neck adornment. Looped, wrapped, or even casually tossed on, the neck scarf can add pop and pizzazz to any outfit. While the neck scarf can come in many shapes, designs, and fabrics, the general consensus is that people wear two main styles: silk and chunky knit. Typically, a silk scarf is more for adding a stylish touch to an otherwise mild outfit, while a chunky knit scarf is used more for warmth. As a bonus, the knit scarf looks extra cozy when paired with your favorite fitted sweater, boots, and skinny jeans.

As a Headband

By taking a typical rectangular scarf of a thinner material, and folding it into itself to make a thin strip, you can create a rather chic headband, tied into a knot under your hair. For extra flair, the tail ends of the scarf can be looped around a ponytail or bun, giving you the ability to turn a bad hair day into a good hair day, in no time flat.

As a Hair-Cover

You can channel old-school glamour by simply covering your hair with a scarf, folded corner to corner like a triangle. Pop on a pair of your favorite oversized shades to give the look an even more glamorous feel.

This fall, embrace the scarf with these tried and true styles.
