Summer's Colorful Smoky Eyes

Ultra Violet Smoky Eyes
Acid-washed eye makeup is making a splash this summer. Often associated with royalty, riches and Prince lyrics that won't get out of your head, eye-popping purples have all the intensity of red and the "calming" effects of blue and lavender.

The new twist on summer smoky eyes? Rock this rare shade of purple (it looks great on all skin tones) allover lids. Blend the color toward the brow bone and pair it with a yellow-based gold to warm up or "summerfy" the look. Statement-making acid shadow is the perfect accessory to a neutral or black ensemble. Keep lips and cheeks neutral (or nude) as well. For edgy intensity, trace your lashes with deep plum liquid liner and wing it out at the outer corner of the eye. The season’s acid-vibrant purple can be worn on lips instead of eyes—it’ll make your teeth look amazingly white while complementing a summer tan. --Stephanie Simons

That's a stunning eyeshadow pairing with the eye color. And I really like the light gold pairing in the inner corner of the eyes. I totally would not have thought of doing that. This comment has been removed.

Dang...how do you get the color to show up that much??? I have (what appears to be) pretty deep colored eyeshadow but it definitely does not look that vivid on my eyes :( This comment has been removed.
