How to Do Your Makeup Rock and Roll Style

Rock and Roll Makeup
If your rock and roll clothes go where others fear to tread, you’ve gotta have the face to match. The look of the moment is nouveau rock and roll.

"Rock and roll fashion of the moment infuses the slinky and sensual. It's nouveau rock and roll, done up with smoky eyes and lightweight lips."

If you’re a newbie to rock and roll makeup, do it up like only a good girl can in bright colors à la Taylor Momsen . A stark palette that revolves around black exudes understated confidence and allows the color of your eyes to steal the spotlight, especially if they’re a light shade of blue or green. Full brows put the finishing touches on this look.

To create a smoky rock and roll eye like a pro, outline your entire eye—including the inner corners of the eyes (near the tear ducts)—with a charcoal eyeliner pencil. Apply a shimmery grey eye shadow in the crease, blending carefully. On the inner corner of the lid, apply a chartreuse (bold yellow) shadow about 1/3 of the way in. Sweep a shimmery black shadow to the remaining portion of your lid and blend the two together with a fluffy eye shadow brush. Use the same black shadow to outline your top lashes, this time using a wet eyeliner brush. Line the inner rim of your lower lashes ("the water line") with your black eyeliner pencil. Finish this rock and roll look by dipping the wet eyeliner brush in the chartreuse shadow and applying it directly underneath the lashes. Applying the same colored eyeshadow on the lid and the lower lashes balances any makeup look.

You can rock this dramatic smoky eye using lilac or steely blue eye shadow instead of chartreuse. Paired with nude lips, the vibe is posh with a downtown edge (if pulled off correctly, even conservative parents will approve). Alternatively, you can rock a hot pink or red pout with light eye makeup. --Stephanie Simons

This look is totally about dark eyes and smoky eyeshadow. Electric blue is my choice of an edgier color :) This comment has been removed.

Feel like Avril's makeup here looks more 'vampy' as opposed to rock-'n-roll. definitely a great look tho ;D This comment has been removed.
