Sheer and See-Through Clothing: Fashion Blunder or Tasteful Statement?
I’ve seen see-through fashion worn both tastefully as well as disastrously. And to be quite frank, it’s usually the latter. I recall not long ago during that time back in high school when girls thought it was somehow “sexy” to wear a visible black bra under a see-through white shirt -_____-. Not only does it look completely distasteful, it usually looks pretty trampy (at least imo haha).
However, during the once-in-a-blue-moon instances someone gets it down right, the result is a rather tasteful and elegant look. My favorite look is the sheer chiffon material, with just enough opaqueness for the outline of what’s worn underneath to be seen. The trick is balancing the degree of exposure—if you’re wearing a sleeveless top underneath, more visibility is fine…but anything less, you definitely want your shirt to be less see-through!
I really like Olivia Wilde’s recent look in the polka-dotted Gucci dress. Although she’s not wearing something underneath (as we can see with the side-boobage lol), it’s still done in a pretty tasteful way and moderate level of exposure (she’s not showing skin all over). What are your thoughts???? :D
