Olivia Palermo Shows Us How to Make Jackets the Standout Piece

Make a Stylish Jacket Part of Your Everyday Wardrobe

I first saw Olivia Palermo when she starred alongside Whitney Port in “The City,” which was a spinoff of “The Hills” and set in New York City. They both worked at ELLE together (the ultimate) and she didn’t come across with the friendliest personality, but she could definitely put together an outfit. The Manhattan socialite has a very unique look with perfect, delicate features. Her style is always elegant, but she isn’t afraid to go for bold colors, mixed prints or unexpected pairings.

Olivia often wears really fantastic jackets. She picks different colors, sequins, and fabrics and makes each outfit special just by adding one key piece. In her jade green, sheen blazer, she goes for a beautiful, fall color and matches it with a pair of bright yellow, skinny pants. The color-blocking works really well, but she breaks up the look by layering more muted colors underneath the jacket and pulling the whole look together with an intricate pattern for her shoes. A blazer like this can be worn in so many ways. A jewel-toned hue can make an ordinary outfit into something special and Olivia has elevated her outfit by adding sparkly brooches to her jacket.

One of my favorite looks of Olivia’s is her take on casual, downtown chic. She paired slim fit, cuffed jeans with a plain white button-down shirt half untucked and layered an amazing silvery, sequined jacket. Let’s not forget about that fantastic baby blue, ostrich crossbody bag and stunning shoes, but the jacket is my favorite part. Sequins can sometimes be off putting and almost too showgirl if not worn the right way. Olivia hit the style spot on with this look and I’m jealous I didn’t think of it first.

You can’t flip through a magazine without seeing Olivia being photographed wearing clothes by only the greatest designers. Even though she might not be as well known, keep an eye out for her fashion ensembles and prepare to be envious.
