How to Wear Spring's Neon Makeup Trend

Neon Makeup Trend Spring 2010
Pretty gets pink-slashed for spring 2010. Lids, lips and cheeks are accented with a hint of sizzling hot pink and glossy fuchsia lips are hard to resist, respectively. On eyes, try a burst of electric blue, chartreuse or lime green (but not at once, natch). True to form, neon-bright makeup and neon nail colors pervade cosmetic counters, which being to resemble your favorite ice cream or candy counter this time of year with a vast array of sorbet-bright hues. What transpires this season is a wind-burned, après-gym glow and bitten lips that look nearly sun-burned.

"To get the neon makeup trend right, pick bright colors in sheer textures. A hot pink gloss , for instance, will give your face a pop of color while appearing more wearable than hot pink lipstick for everyday."

A hint of blue lip gloss will actually make your pink lipstick more intense in tone. Try a liner in the exact lipstick shade and apply color with a lip brush, which promises a perfect finish. Apply, blot and dab on the powder to lock in the color, slick on another coat and a touch of gloss and you’re set—literally. Thers's nothing’s more unflattering than faded brights.

To get fresh-flushed cheeks, apply bright pink powder blush along the cheekbones and nose, and a dab of shimmery highlighter for a dewy-but-still-dry effect. Neon makeup is bold and colorful and the perfect counterbalance to dark, understated clothing. But remember not to wear more than one clashing neon makeup color at a time if you don't like the wrong kind of attention. --Stephanie Simons
