When it comes to jewelry, why limit yourself to just one piece? Sure the “rule” of accessorizing is always take one piece off before leaving the house, but for my own style rules, I often live by: the more the merrier!

There are some tips to help get you started if you are thinking about layering your accessories look. It doesn’t mean piling on every item that you own, but more about being selective in the pieces you choose to wear.

Layering Your Lockets. A locket is a delicate, unique piece of jewelry that looks great alone with a scoop neck tee or a vintage-inspired dress. However, by adding one or two extra strands, it creates another element to your look. Dress up with strands of pearls, black beads or colorful jewels. The trick is to play with lengths and bead size. You don’t want several heavy strands of necklaces, just one or two pretty selections are best.

Stack Your Rings. You can buy rings three or four at a time that are meant to be stacked. Usually, there will be a couple of plain bands and then a couple more with added detail to them The stacked rings are meant to be worn in multiples and can an alternative to an over-sized cocktail ring (although those are great, too!).

Load Up on Bracelets. Bracelets are one of my favorite accessories because they come in all shapes, styles and sizes. I like to mix and match thin bangles with thick cuffs in different metallic colors. Woven or wooden bracelets can exude a boho vibe and a gorgeous, crystal cuff paired with one or two skinnier pieces can create a glamorous feel.

Celebrities that come to mind who know how to work this trend well or Nicole Richie, Jessica Alba, the Olsen twins. When it comes to jewelry, how do you prefer to wear it?
