Colored Denim
This Spring jeans of every shade of the rainbow are flying off the shelves and being sported by celebs everywhere!! Read on for tips on how YOU can join the wave and spice up your wardrobe with a pop of color.

Fit Is Everything- The universal denim rule also applies to colored denim: Fit is the most important factor. For jeans to look good they must fit well. Try on as many pairs as it takes to find a pair that fits like a glove. If they gape in the back or give you a muffin top then they DO NOT fit. Remember, you can always take a visit to a tailor if your are struggling to find the perfect pair. It is an expense that is well worth is. Remember: If your body type changes, your jeans should too!

Find Your Cut- Unlike a few years ago colored denim is now available in a variety of cuts and styles. From skinny to bootcut, to flares and everything in between. Take some time to find the cut that is most flattering for your figure. When in doubt cigarette and bootcut tends to be the most universally flattering.

Pair It With Prints- Colored denim is fantastic because it can be worn with a variety of prints. Plaid, floral, you name it!! For a put together look find a pattern with a splash of color the same as your denim in it! If you are print shy opt for a neutral print such as a brown and beige leopard print.

Dress It Down- When in doubt throw on a plain white tee and a fitted blazer then accessorize!! Plain white tees are a basic for a reason and they can never fail!

Layer- For a downtown chic look feel free to layer colored jeans with knits and jackets. But try to avoid overlayering. Once you have completed your look check yourself in the mirror and make final adjustments. Take away one piece, unbutton a jacket or untuck a shirt. Voila!

Go Neutral- The simplest way to wear color is to pair it with neutrals such as ivories, blacks, camels, browns, and grays. Try an over-sized tunic or knit on top of a pair of colored skinnies. Just keep it balanced. Don't wear over-sized tops with wide legs or you will be swallowed up with fabric.

Color Block- The best way to approach color blocking is by looking to the good 'ol color wheel. There are a few ways to color block:

Monochromatic: Pair colored denim with a top in a different shade of the same color.

Same Family- Go to the left or right on the color wheel to find your perfect pairing shade. You can add a third color if you want just keep moving around the color wheel. Stop at three colors though because we want it to look fashionably not freakish.

Contrasting: Pair your colored jeans with a color on the opposite side of the color wheel. If the contrast is to much for you marry the two shades with a neutral such as a beige vest on top of burnt orange skinnies and an olive green top.

Feet first- When wearing colored denim you can never go wrong with brown or black boots or flats. Metallics such as silver flats also look great!

Do It With Denim- Try pairing colored denim with plain old blue denim such as colored skinnies with a white tee and a denim jacket or button up.

Maintenance- When washing colored denim follow these tips to keep it vibrant and fade-free: Wash turned inside out in cold water. Add one cup of distilled vinegar to the final rinse. (The acidity will help set the dye). Don't worry the smell goes away in the wash. Keep them inside out in the dryer too.

The primary colors of last season have been replaced with an array of pastels in Easter egg shades! Now that you know how to rock 'em go scoop up a few pairs for yourself!
