Choose the Perfect Pair of Boots for Fall

Find Your Perfect Boot
If there is one thing that a fashion-forward gal looks forward to each and every fall, it is the return of the boot. From the flat equestrian styles, to the sky-high stiletto variations, fall and winter boot options are absolutely endless!

When discussing the boot, it’s best to start with the ankle and work our way up. The bootie, or short boot, is a style that most closely resembles a shoe, and typically hits right at the ankle. Generally well-heeled, and a bit on the dressier side, a bootie can be a great accompaniment to your favorite skirt and sweater combination.

Equestrian—or riding—boots are a big trend in fashion today. Previously reserved for horseback riding, these boots are high-reaching (usually to the knee) and low-heeled (about an inch). Oftentimes, the riding boot will be made of leather, with embellishments in the form of snaps, laces, and buttons.

The over-the-knee boot has recently received a chic makeover, making them perfectly acceptable for everyday use. The trick to an over-the-knee boot is to opt for a style that is flat-to-low in heel height, with plenty of room at the top of the shaft for your thighs. Slipped over a pair of skinny jeans, or paired with tights and a skirt, over-the-knee boots will always look and feel great.

Dress boots are generally knee-length, and are best suited for fancier occasions. Their ability to keep the legs warm makes them functional, while their skillfully crafted heels, designs, and detailing makes them fashionable. These boots can tower well into the 5-6’’ heel/platform mark. The beauty of a dressy, heeled boot is the added support and stability that the higher shaft provides, ensuring that ankle twists aren’t a regular occurrence.

Perhaps the most practical of the lot, the all-weather boot will keep your feet warm and dry, no matter what Mother Nature throws at you. While these styles aren’t always the most stylish, they are the most functional. Look for a pair with faux fur or wool lining and soles with plenty of grip, to ensure that your feet stay firmly planted on the ground in the wettest of weather.

With a plethora of options out there, the desire to boot up for the cooler months ahead is hard to resist. Choosing one of these styles will ensure that you are always right on trend.

I really wish I could wear boots more often but my problem is I have tiny calves. I always have too much extra space at the top of the boot. I know I can get them tailored to fit, but does anyone know of a boot line designed specifically for small calves? This comment has been removed.
