Ballerina inspired makeup prevails for spring 2010

Everything ballerina-inspired is bellissima for spring 2010 . Think Swan Lake reinvented to truly marv, modern effect. Zac Posen sent a bevy of fresh-faced modles down the catwalk in ballerina buns, NYC-slicked and wisp-less, while Marc Jacobs raised the barre with his gauzy pastel leggings. Spring makeup is also en point and dance inspired, so turn to tutu-pink colors on nails, cheeks and lips or barely there nudes that toe the line between “is she wearing makeup or isn’t she?” On skin, a softly powdered look takes center stage (perfumes also go soft and powdery for an ethereal, feather-light finish). Chic, minimalist updos that call attention to a swan-like neck are all the rage, also taking their cues straight from the runways. Look to the usual suspects for pink done perfectly: Chanel, Victoria’s Secret and Dior all turn out a bevy of ballet-inspired colors to keep you on your tippy toes this season. --Stephanie Simons
