The question isn’t what’s to love about boots for fall, but what’s not to love? They go with everything, can be dressed up or down and they can instantly make an outfit look chic. Trends last year included over-the-knee boots, clear up to the thigh in some cases and fringe booties, but there are some new trends making their way through to soon show up on some feet near you.

I’ve seen a lot of zippers on boots. And not the typical zipper on the side, but a zipper up the back, a zipper on the front or in some cases both. What is it about zippers that makes things look so funky, trendy and just plain cool? Two summers ago when the zipper trend swept through, I bought two or three tops and three or four dresses all with exposed zippers.

Another popular trend that pops up year after year is buckles. You can do a lot with buckles just be simply adding more. Some of the boots right now have so many buckles and straps they look like straight jackets on shoes, which gives them an edgy and tough feel that makes them more fun. Pairing such a trend with a more feminine dress and lace tights would be a fashionable contrast and great interpretation of the trend.

And say good-bye to plain black this fall when it comes to buying your next pair of boots. I, of course, will still stick to at least one black pair, but there are boots in varying colors - gray, cranberry, forest green - and even boots that have more than one color for the same boot. Everyone should have one basic color of boot for their wardrobe due to versatility purposes, but picking up on the colorful boot trend is something to consider, too.

I could go on and on about how much I love boots and I know that the trends I’ve mentioned aren’t the only ones that Taaz members will be wearing this fall. Please share your favorite boot trends with me!
