Kesha Cleans Up Her Fashion Act

Thursday’s MTV Video Music Awards brought in a high fashion crowd trying to outdo each other with their wardrobe choices. This year I have to say that performers and attendees were fairly tame. The most surprising of all might just have to be Worst Dressed List darling Kesha.

Kesha has appeared on more than red carpet proudly wearing a dress made of trash bags. She forever looks like she fell into a pool of glitter and manages to make her beautiful, blonde hair look like a ratty mess. However, after many silent pleas to her, it looks like she has finally agreed to clean up her act.

To the VMAs she wore a long-sleeved, black and nude stitched mini paired with an interesting pair of black platform shoes. Her main accessory was a matching feathered bag. And her earrings were futuristic gold stars with a tiny, clear globe in the centers, which weren’t quite matching, but somehow purely Kesha.

Although her fashion choice was leaps and bounds an improvement from what she’s appeared in at previous occasions, it was her hair and makeup that I was most impressed with. She kept to a low-key palette of a soft peaches and cream complexion, glossy mauve lipstick and expertly lined eyes. This fresh look was such a welcome change to her usual over-the-top makeup which has included stars drawn around her eyes or glitter overtaking her face. For once we are able to see her pretty features. Kesha’s milk white hair hung straight and loose to one side making her look like the young singer she is.

The change is what I would describe as vintage mod. Her unique pieces and simple hair and makeup really made her “makeunder” a winner in my book. For those typically a fan of her kooky style, this outfit may have come across too subdued, but I can only hope this is a style evolution for Kesha and that she has grown out of her garbage bag days.
