Scarlett Johansson was a major head turner at the 2011 Academy Awards. She walked the red carpet in an elegant, custom Dolce & Gabanna gown. The only thing more attention-grabbing than the lace dress was Scarlett’s vivid eye makeup. Here is how you can get the look for yourself.

Any makeup artist will tell you that the key to a flawless face lies in the foundation. Prep your skin for a perfect makeup application by applying a hydrating cream or serum. Also pat some eye cream underneath the eyes, to fill in fine lines.

A daring dress like Scarlett’s requires an equally bold makeup look to complement it. Begin by prepping the lids with an eye primer, to ensure that your makeup will stay in place. Start with a bronze shade of shadow, sweeping it across the entire eyelid. Next, use a copper color to define the crease, blending it up and out until it really pops. Smudge a bit of the copper shadow along the lower lash line as well. Use a dark gray shade along the upper lid, as close to the lash line as possible. Finally, add a pop of color with a gold shadow in the inner corners of the eyes.

Finish this vibrant eye look by drawing a line of black liner across the upper lid. Use a gold liner along the inner rim of the eye. Apply three coats of black mascara to give your lashes some extra oomph.

Once the eyes are done, use a makeup sponge to apply a lightweight liquid foundation to the entire face, blending well into the neckline. Dab concealer over any blemishes or redness, and then apply a sheer, pressed powder to set the product in place.

Scarlett wisely chose to keep the rest of her gorgeous face simple. A hint of blush on the cheeks and a rosy gloss on the lips completed this red-carpet look.

To get Scarlett’s textured hairdo, begin by coating wet hair with a styling cream. Next, blow dry your hair, while simultaneously brushing through it, to create loose waves. Once hair is dry, mist it with a texturizing spray. Take two-inch sections of hair, and wrap them around the barrel of a one-inch curling iron, leaving the ends out. Repeat the process until the whole head is curled. Use your fingers to break through the curls, and then flatten the ends of the hair with a straightener. Spray with a flexible-hold hairspray to lock the look in place.
