On the red carpet for a screening of Django Unchained, some celebs skipped over the LBD and went for the little black pantsuit instead. A cute party frock is always fun to wear for a night dressed up, but don’t disregard the power of the pantsuit and how easy it is to make the outfit look more feminine. When you pair the right accessories and choose the right material, you don’t have to worry about your pantsuit looking like you’ve come straight from the office. Look ready to party in a pantsuit with tips modeled by these celebs:

Olivia Palermo always manages to mix and match fabrics and textures and come up with the perfectly polished look. Here she pairs black leggings with an interesting black coat for her fashionable take on the pantsuit. Cream-colored shoes and a blue envelope clutch serve as her pops of color. The different textures and hues might not work on anyone but for this New Yorker, she manages to pull it all together.

Another well-known Olivia (Wilde) gives the traditional look of a pantsuit a fun spin by wearing a chic, black jumpsuit with a deep, deep v-neck plunge instead. Simple jewelry and well-toned arms allow this sleeveless, minimalist look still work for the red carpet. Bright cerulean shoes help offset the darkness of the rest of the outfit to create a style that is fresh, modern and confident.

For Cameron Diaz's interpretation of the pantsuit, she goes for a little more of what I would describe as New York casual or California formal. The matching jacket and pants give the look a dressier appeal, but by pairing a partly untucked white tee, it gives the outfit a more laid-back appeal which matches the her personality. Stacked bracelets and a double rope necklace are great accessories to an otherwise simple black and white look.

When dresses just won't do, pantsuits step in to save the day. What do you think of these stars' looks?
