Missi Pyle, one of the actors seen in this year’s Best Picture winner, The Artist, arrived at the 2012 Academy Awards in an eco-friendly Valentina Delfino gown. The gorgeous blue dress was the winning design from the third annual Red Carpet Green Dress competition. Missi complemented her gown with flawless makeup and a chic updo. A radiant look begins with hydrated skin. Apply a moisturizing serum to your face, and follow up with foundation and concealer to even out the skin tone. Blend well, and go over the face with a sheer, pressed powder. Use a blush brush to apply a peachy-pink color to the cheeks, blending up toward the temples.
Missi opted for cool tones on the lids, to make her blue eyes pop. Sweep a shimmery, gray shade on your lids, stopping at the crease. Smudge the shadow along the lower lash line, using a finger or a Q-Tip. Apply an ivory shade to illuminate the crease, blending the shadow up to the brow bone, and in the inner corner of the eye. Use a black liner across the upper eyelid, and along the water line. Apply two heavy coats of black mascara to both the top and bottom lashes to finish the eyes.
A peachy-pink pout completes this makeup look. Line the lips with a pencil in a shade similar to the lipstick you will be using. Use the pencil to fill the lips in; this will help color last. Apply a coat of lipstick, blot the lips, and apply a second coat.
Missi’s elegant updo is easier than it looks. Apply a smoothing serum to your hair before blow drying with a round brush. Use a wide-barreled curling iron to create loose waves, curling the entire head of hair. Gather the hair at the nape of your neck, leaving the front layers out, and secure it with an elastic. Twist the gathered hair into a loose bun, pinning it in place with bobby pins. Re-curl the face-framing pieces of hair, wrapping the strands around the barrel of a curling iron, before misting them with hairspray to lock the look in place.
