How to Style Your Hair Like Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey Hairstyle
Mariah's buxom, sun-kissed look's on fire. There are two things to envy about this red carpet diva. Her angelic voice and her lioness mane, in no particular order. Score her sexy look now by following a few simple styling tricks or upload a photo to our virtual hairstyle studio for instant gratification.

Grow your hair long like Mariah by deep conditioning it every week and getting regular trims ever 4 to 6 weeks to prevent breakage. Once you've achieved your desired length, ask your stylist for long, sexy layers to give your hair a lot of movement.

To style your hair like Mariah Carey, invest in a set of two- or three- inch wide Velcro rollers, in addition to bobby pins and satin bonnet to keep them in place. Part your hair down the middle and wrap the rollers up in two-inch wide sections of hair. Pin them tight to the scalp with bobby pins and cover with the bonnet, which will offer smoothing benefits (so will a satin pillowcase). Leave the curlers in for at least 30 minutes while you put on your makeup or soak in a bubble bath, diva-style.

Gently remove the curlers and tousle your hair with your fingertips rather than combing or brushing it. Mariah Carey often wears her hair flat at the crown and parted down the middle. This Boho-glam look flatters a symmetrical face and is easy to achieve, even if you have fine or limp hair. Spritz with light hold hairspray to keep the style in place.

I also use lightweight hairspray. but if i'm out, i go for my mousse...it's light enough to look natural, but not heavy enough to undo all of the curls (like gel would) This comment has been removed.

the article calls for light weight hairspray...but what do other ppl use to keep their hair in place? This comment has been removed.

I love doing this look on my hair on those days I wake up and my hair looks too messy and I don't want to heat damage it by straightening it. Instead I put in my velcro rollers, hairspray it in place, blow dry a little, and leave it for a good hour or so and let it down so that it's slightly wavy :) This comment has been removed.
